Orson Welles, a man of many skills and talents, was not only a great actor, writer and director, but was also an artist that excelled in many art forms like painting and music. He was an all rounder who mastered the art of almost all kinds of trade. He dabbled with radio, television and films that were his ultimate love.
The mega successful and cult classic ‘Citizen Kane’ was directed by Welles who catapulted himself to newer heights of fame and recognition. Some of his stage productions include Julius Caesar that broke all records when it hit Broadway.
He has his own style of directing a film. Everything about his movies was extraordinary like the angling of camera that was usually low. The lighting of his sets was done using a technique known as chiaroscuro. Welles reinvented the art of filmmaking with different types of techniques that were only seen in his films and not anywhere else.
Orson Welles will be remembered for his innovative styles in filmmaking.

On Friday, July 19th, 2003, Orson Welles' Oscar statuette went on sale at an auction at Christie's, New York, but was voluntarily withdrawn so the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences could buy it back for just 1 dollar. The statuette, included in a large selection of Welles-related material, was going to be sold by Beatrice Welles, the youngest of the filmmaker's three daughters and the sole heir of his estate and was expected to sell at over 300,000 dollars."
