    Nia Long, an American actress, born (October 30, 1970) in Brooklyn, New York, is of Trinidadian decent.  She studied at St. Mary’s Academy and studied ballet, acting, guitar, tap, jazz and gymnastics and she graduated in the year 1989 from Westchester High school. She was coached under Betty Bridges and the earliest role she did was in a Disney Television movie, The B.R.A.T patrol. She got a notable role for a three year contract in Guiding Light. She became a well known face after acting in The Fresh prince of Bel-Air with Will Smith from 1994 to 1995. She was cast in Third Watch from 2003 to 2005. Thereafter, she appeared in the series ever wood, Boston Legal and Big Shots. She has also appeared in supporting roes in Boys n the Hood, Friday, Made in America. She was also cast in films Soul Food, Boiler Room, Love Jones, Are we there yet, big Momma’s house, Ice cube and The Best Man. She has won Image awards in the year 2000, 2004 and 2005 as an outstanding actress, and Best actress award in the year 2000, for The Best Man.
