    Jean-Luc Godard – The French Film Director, Critic & Screenwriter

    Jean-Luc Godard is often referred to as the driving force behind the French film movement La Nouvelle Vague in the 1960s while he was barely thirty. He date of birth as recorded is 3rd December 1930 and was the man known for his favors of breaking the established rules such as choosing the new directors over the established ones, crafting over the innovation in French movies. He was known to be a vociferous critic of the mainstream French cinema. Godard ranked third in list of critic’s all time top ten directors of the world in 2002.

    Godard was born in Paris to the wealthy parents - Odile (nee Monod, daughter of Julien Monod – a founder of BNP Paribas) and the Paul Godard, a Swiss physician by profession. Godard however got drawn to films by way of film criticism which he began as a student in the 1950s. He however was a construction worker at the Plaz Fleuri work site during the 1953 – 54.
