John Barry – The English Composer

John Barry – the English composer was born on 3rd November 1933 and was famous for his composition and conduction of film music. His commendable compositions include soundtracks of 11 movies for James Bond series between 1963 and 1987 and he’s also credited with the compositions for famous movies such as Dances with Wolves, Midnight Cowboy and Out of America. He was appointed OBE (Order of the British Empire) for his outstanding contributions to the world of music and nearly spent more than 50 years in this trade.

John began his career as a trumpet player in the army and once his army service was over he pursued a correspondence course in music while working as an organizer with Jack Parnell and Ted Heath’s Orchestra. This essentially sowed the seed of orchestra in him that eventually flourished in giving birth to his own orchestra named The John Barry Seven. John however came to limelight through the BBC television series Drumbeat.
