    Robert Altman

     

    Robert Bernard Altman was born on February 20, 1925 and passed away on November 20, 2006. He was an American film screenwriter and director. He had been nominated for Academy Awards five times. He was known for making naturalistic films with a stylized perspective that set him apart from other directors in the film industry. Even though he made films in every genre but it was set apart from other films because of the presence of satire and humor that the films heavily relied upon.

    Three of his films namely MASH, McCabe and Mrs. Miller and Nashville have been set aside to be preserved in the United States National Film Registry. He was also awarded with an Academy Honorary Award. He had been married thrice and was still married to Kathryn Reed when he died. The cause of his death was noted to be leukemia. His last film was ‘A Prairie Home Companion’.
