    Samuel Atkinson Waterston, widely known as Sam Waterston was born on November 15, 1940. He is an American director, actor and producer. He has received wide acclaim for his role in his portrayal of Sydney Schanberg in the movie ‘The Killing Fields’. He was nominated for an Academy Award for his work in this film. He has also won a Screen Actors Guild Award and received a nomination for Golden Globe for his work as Jack McCoy in the television series called ‘Law & Order’.

    He has also received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on January 2010. He has been married twice and his current wife is Lynn Louisa Woodruff. He has four children. He is also a humanitarian and has received an award in 2012 from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health titled Goodermote Humanitarian Award. He started his acting career in the year 1965 with both films and television shows.
