    Sydney Pollack

     

    Sydney Irwin Pollack was born on July 1, 1934. He was an American film actor, director and producer. He acted in more than 30 films and television shows, directed about 21 films and television shows and produced a total of 44 films. Jeremiah Johnson, Three Days of the Condor, Absence of Malice are some of his notable works. He won Academy Awards for production and direction for ‘Out of Africa’. He was also nominated for being the Best Director in Oscars for his movies ‘They Shoot Horses, Don’t They?’ and ‘Tootsie’.

    He passed away on May 26, 2008 owing to stomach cancer. He was married to Claire Bradley Griswold from 1950 to the time he died. He has three children. He started off his career in the industry in the year 1965 with ‘The Slender Thread’. As director and producer, his last film was ‘Margaret’ in 2008 and as an actor he worked on ‘Made of Honor’ as his last project.
