    Derek Jacobi was born on 22 October 1938 in the place of Leytonestone in London, England. His parents were Alfred George Jacobi and Daisy Gertrude. Alfred George Jacobi was a tobacconist and his mother worked in a drapery store in Leytone. During the 19th century, his grandparents migrated from Germany to England. He spent his school life at Leyton County High School. During his school life also he was very interested in drama and became an integral part of it. Derek George Jacobi was a well known English actor and also a stage director. His successful plays are Hamlet, Oedipus the King, Uncle Vanya and many others. He got Laurence Olivier Award on his first performance on Cyrano de Bergerac in the year 1983 and another one for his performance on Twelfth Night in 2009.Also in the year 2002; he got five different awards for his outstanding performance in different roles.
