Julie Christie – The British Actress With A Difference!!!

Julie Francis Christie alias Julie Christie was a British actress and pop icon of the “swinging London” in the 1960s in Britain. She was credited with many accolades and awards such as Academy Award, Screen Actress Gild Award, Golden Globe and BAFTA Award which in essence stand tall as the mark of her astounding success in the history of cinema. She came into limelight holding the hand of Billy Liar (the movie that was released in 1963) and her solo Academy Award came through her performances in Darling while she characterized the role of Diana Scott.

Interestingly Julie was born at Chabua, Assam, India while India was under the British regime. Julie’s parents however separated when Julie was a child and she went on studying at the Convent of Our Lady School at St. Leonards-on-sea, East Sussex as a boarder. Before that she was expelled from another convent school for her risqué joke. But, from the Convent of Our Lady School too she was expelled.
